Ian Faberfox :
Two of my friends wanted to watch their video on Hazbin Hotel, and I said yeah sure. Been a while since, but I recall from the second the episode and narration begin, it was non-stop complaining , not about writing or framing or mistranslations or anything objective, just started complaining that " they're only using -three- shades of black to indicate depth" in reference to children's story book style silhouettes. Three shades of black was way above what was needed, to the point of being luxurious. (Or it was that they used even more shades than that, and he complained that the lighter Grey ones (meant to be in the distance and harder to see, the way colors work) were harder to see. Like I say it's been a while but it was that level of contrivance. But either way he wanted to essentially call them lazy or unqualified to animate because of that complaint. Other complaints were something along the line of "WOW. Is the main character -actually- going to sing a song right now?" which, for anyone who doesn't know, the show is literally built around musical numbers.
I had us pause the video like 1 to 2 minutes in and asked if we could watch anything else; I just felt personally attacked alongside Vivienne and the creative team by that point. I watched the show and it meant a lot to me, and here he was just tearing into it in the worst faith, most intellectually dishonest, mean spirited ways he could figure out how to, so of course I couldn't help but feel that it was, by proxy, insulting anyone who watched the show, along with the show itself. The friends agreed to watch something else, and they watched it later by themselves and apparently enjoyed it, since it was HH related content of any kind, so I guess some people find the ... I guess you could call it intentional cruelty? to be enjoyable. It always just made me think that it's just sad the people producing CS must be that miserable. : <
