It is the worst when they come to you and say “we love your page and how engaged your audience is “now can you throw all of that out the window and do this exact script that is nothing like your page that your audience will hate. And then genuinely be surprised when it doesn’t perform as well as your authentic content. I get them wanting to make sure keywords and phrases are included, but given an exact script that you know several other influencers were also given is diabolical. It’s like they are in charge of social media, but are not consumers of it on their own.

As someone in marketing, this feels like when an older higher up thinks they know exactly how to execute a social post, provides suggestions based on their own opinions, and then gets annoyed when it doesn’t perform well. And sadly there’s usually an intern pushing back, but they don’t have the authority to make the final call.
