@aaronrunning: I’m an asthmatic runner and today was the first day I thought I can feel the cold on my chest ☃️ My asthma is quite well controlled when running, particularly during the summer but the cold air is definitely one of my asthma triggers. Here’s 5 things that I do during the winter to help control my asthma as a runner: 1. Spend longer warming up and running slower. The worst thing you can do is think ‘I need to warm up fast’ and run quicker out the door than you usually would. You’ll just end up out of breath and in a difficult position for the rest of your run! 2. USE YOUR INHALER. So many asthmatics very rarely use their inhaler and it is unbelievable. I can’t imagine going a day without mine. I actually up my dose during the winter to help combat the cold! 3. Drink more water before your run. You don’t want a dry mouth when going out for a run in the cold, if you can get more water in before your run it will really help! 4. Don’t be afraid to cross train. If you feel that you’d benifit more from being indoors then you can absolutely get a great session in on the treadmill, bike, stair stepper etc. 5. Get a buff/snood/neck warmer. Adding mostiure to the air will really help your breathing on them cold mornings 🥶 #runnersoftiktok #runningcommunity #RunningTikTok #runtok #asthma
In the winter I’ll take some form of water with me even on short runs when it’s cold. I’ve noticed when I don’t I find it hard to avoid the attack. Most times by mile to it’s better and just run by a trash can and ditch the water for the rest of the run.

Wholeheartedly agree! I find things ease up after the first mile so have to remind myself not to worry if it's hard starting off.
