@cedarhillhomestead: Sit for a spell and learn about one of my favorite hyperlocal plants: purple ironweed! Strong, tall, and striking, ironweed looks especially beautiful blooming alongside goldenrod. Both plants have a long history of use as astringent, anti-inflammatory herbs. Ironweed, in particular, has traditionally been used to support healthy menstruation, balanced immune function, and a healthy appetite. As a tea, its flavor reminds me of raspberry leaf and the two herbs share quite a bit in common. 💜

I have some in my front yard that has already flowered. I’m assuming I can still use the leaves? And I can cut it down? It grew taller than our house and is now leaning far into the yard.

I have a ton of iron weed, I had no idea. It does grow right in with golden rod and wild raspberry leaf 💚 also about 10 feet from cramp bark, I have three daughters so I think nature is looking out for us 🥰

those are 2 "weeds" I allow to flourish at my property. I have Jerusalem Artichokes slowly coming through the fence from the neighboring woods too. 😍

Let’s make a conscious effort to stop calling the common names of these wonderful natives fucking weeds. Shall we have transplanted many of these plants be rooted now they’re 10 feet tall🌻🌻🌻
