The abwan behind the song "Wa 16" has finally come to the limelight. His name Adam. This gentleman from the USA has narrated that there was a girl who was his classmate, and they were in love with each other while they were living in Holwadaag and Wardigle in Mogadishu. When the fighting in Somalia occurred years ago, people fled. One day, he was told by his family that they were also fleeing the country. So, he asked the neighbours where his girlfriend was. He was told that she had also fled and that many cars were attacked along the way, with people being killed. So, he thought she had also been killed in those incidents. She then asked him if he still remembered her voice. Halimo told him that she now lives in Gadho. Later, he came to learn that Halimo had been married to a close relative of his. She was eventually divorced. After all those years, he finally travelled all the way to Balad Xawo to meet her. What a love it was. A love that survived distance, war, separation, marriage, divorce and 16 years apart. May we find such love in our hearts too. 😀..
