@borntoserve07: Sometimes the emergency isn’t the beginning of the problem. It’s the moment we can no longer postpone the decision. We tell ourselves, “I’ll know when it’s time.” But how do you actually know? Maybe “time” doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes it looks like the caregiver becoming more exhausted. The home becoming harder to manage. Appointments becoming harder to keep. Safety becoming a bigger concern. Or the person receiving care needing more than one person can realistically provide. And because nothing terrible has happened yet, we keep adjusting. We keep stretching. We keep saying, “We’re managing.” Then something happens—a fall, a hospital stay, a caregiver who simply cannot continue—and suddenly the decision that deserved time, conversation, and choices has to be made under pressure. That is why this question matters: Do we really want the emergency to be the first time we discuss what comes next? Planning does not mean something bad is about to happen. Sometimes planning simply means: “If life changes, we already know where to begin.” HAVE YOU EVER HAD THA TALK? 💜 #HealingForCaregivers #FollowMeAcrossTheBridge
