@yuka_app: This back-to-school season, we’re calling out 10 ultra-processed snacks commonly found in children’s lunchboxes 📣 We analyzed more than 200 of the most-scanned children’s snacks in Yuka’s U.S. database and found that 78% were ultra-processed. We then took a closer look at 10 familiar lunchbox and after-school staples with multiple markers of ultra-processing and high levels of sugar or sodium. These products may look convenient and kid-friendly, but behind the packaging can be long ingredient lists with industrial formulations, and significant amounts of sugar or sodium. And this matters: ultra-processed foods already account for more than 60% of the calories consumed by children and adolescents in the U.S. A children’s snack shouldn’t require 45 ingredients. And one serving shouldn’t exceed an entire day’s recommended added-sugar limit. 👉 Read our full investigation and see the 10 products we analyzed at the link in bio.
