The amount of times people go “omg I didn’t know you were gay!?”…. I’m not saying it’s bad to think that, but it’s weird to voice it. I’ll be having a conversation and mention my boyfriend and they’ll cut me off like ‘Wait you have a boyfriend??’ And derail the conversation. Or when people automatically say “do you have a wife?” Like at the barbers and then to go “no I have a boyfriend” and it creates this awkward interaction where they are all “ohh sorry!” And then I’m like “ah it’s okay”. It’s just never a natural flow of conversation. I also get asked ‘are you a top of bottom?’ By people I’ve just met… so I usually just say partner just to avoid all of that
