When I started, I was on maternity leave, watching my maternity pay get smaller while the cost of having a baby definitely wasn’t. I wanted to be at home with my daughter. I wanted the slow mornings, the cuddles, the firsts, the days out and all the little memories. But I also wanted to contribute financially without constantly worrying about money. So I started learning how to use Canva to create and sell digital products. Then I created a completely new, secret Instagram account and started posting simple 5–7 second reels like this. No huge following. No business experience. No fancy equipment. And definitely no hours of spare time. I was learning around naps, evenings and whatever little pockets of time I could find. And honestly, I had no idea just how much it would change my life. ✨ It allowed me to extend my maternity leave ✨ I’ve been able to reduce my hours at work ✨ I’ve earned almost £8,000 from my phone ✨ I’ve had £300+ days from home ✨ I can work around my daughter instead of everything fitting around work ✨ We’ve been able to put the extra money towards holidays, days out and making memories And that’s exactly why I wish more mums knew about this. You don’t need to be an influencer. You don’t need a massive audience. You don’t need to be “techy”. And you definitely don’t need loads of spare time. You can start small, learn as you go and build something around your actual life.
