this comment section has missed the entire point of this. This isn’t to shame those who got an early start, it’s to reassure those of us who still haven’t achieved these milestones and feel like we’re behind or God forbid, defective for not accomplishing these things yet.

You’re all missing the point 😭 it’s not a bad thing to hit these milestones early. Nobody is saying that it’s wrong for you to be married, have kids, or be at the peak of your career at 20. All she is trying to say is that you don’t need to have everything together the second you become an adult. You’re not falling behind just because you’re not living the dream just yet. Some things may take longer than anticipated and that’s ok and evidently completely normal.

Y’all know being a young parent makes it significantly more likely your child will grow up at or near the poverty line, right?

Everyone in this comment section really missed the point here huh 😭 the point is that even if you haven’t hit a “mile stone” it’s ok that you haven’t. If you want to hit a mile stone at 20 go for it, but it’s ok if you haven’t either. You can do what you want obviously. You can also come to love yourself and accept that even if everyone around you is doing something doesn’t mean you need to do it too. Was I reading soemthing else bc I thought this was obvious

Well… umm I’m 53 and married for 32 years 😭😭😭 WHERE WERE YOU 32 YEARS AGO?! Kidding. 🤣Not about my age or how long I’ve been married but seriously you couldn’t be more right! My reasons are long and boring but I have always preached this, even then believe it or not. Enjoy your 20’s, establish your life, figure out who you are. The rest will come naturally.

I feel like it is your choice how you choose to live your life, like I’d rather not be almost 50 when my kid is 18 years old, and you can marry at whatever age you feel is right with your partner. Js 🤷♀️
