Backstory: I was 38 weeks pregnant when my boyfriend was feeling weird pain in his right abdominal area. The pain worsened over the course of a couple days which prompted us to go to the Emergency Room. Once some tests were ran they assured us that it was a cyst growing on / in his liver area and it wasn’t much of a concern. They sent him home from the ER with nothing .. no pain meds or anything .. 2 days later , we went to a different ER for a second opinion as the pain persisted. The doctors ran some more test including multiple CT scans & MRI’s. The “cyst” was infact solid and not liquid making it a mass of some sort. They gave us a recommendation to seek help from a Gastroenterologist. After taking those steps ,seeing a gastroenterologist.. the pain never subsided.. instead , it grew worse everyday. He was having trouble sleeping, spiking fevers of 103+, losing weight rapidly, his urine was changing colors, he was struggling to walk and the symptoms became too much to bare.. Which landed us at a different hospital for a 3rd opinion. I was so big and pregnant and could barley help myself, let alone help him.. I needed to call my mom to fly in from home (Philadelphia) to help out where I couldn’t. She was a life saver 🙏🏾. The 3rd hospital admitted us on sight after all the symptoms he was having. They immediately began running their own tests & using the previous test to compare results. The doctor ordered for a biopsy to be done on the mass so we could know if it was benign or malignant. The biopsy results showed a “malignant aggressive soft tissue sarcoma”.. . which in regular words , means cancerous tissue that’s growing fast. We began seeing oncologist and other cancer doctors to find a course of action.. They told us he would need a major surgery and he would need it soon or it may cost him his life… Stay tuned for Part 2 where I’ll be telling all about the surgery & How it went. #hospital #fyp #fxckcancer #sarcomaawareness #livercancer
