Fukuyama’s book was not very good. It just agreed with what the then ruling elites wanted to hear. Read Derrida’s Specters of Marx for an incisive criticism.

I mean the biggest mistake he made was thinking capitalism was a self improving system instead of something spurned to be better by competing systems (the USSR) so when the competition went away capitalism fell into its worse impulses with no lever to counter it. It wasn’t boredom that destroyed the system it was the system itself thinking it could do whatever it wanted with no consequences

As for Fukuyama’s “end of history” thesis, I don’t think his mistake came from a flaw in his study of human history itself. Rather, the problem was that he interpreted history through the lens of a particular ideology that happened to be ascendant at the time.

Soviet Union was state capitalism, and you know that very well. das capital of Marx is all mathematical showing how value created and how people get exploited. it is not ideology or theory. and as long as there are Wage Labourer System and private ownership then you have capitalism.
