At this point with the amount of people going and the amount that show up on Wednesday there isn’t a reason they couldn’t try to open badges pick up on Wednesday as well. Also, for the first two days maybe split it between host hotels , say last names A-G go to Hyatt, H-L Marriott , etc. They have multiple years to draw from on how it’s getting worse.

Not a bad idea but if any of those friends have disability needs they would still need to be present unless they list their needs during online registration

we got there around 11 AM on Friday. badges in 30-ish minutes and about the same for the venture Hall.

I say they let all of the attendees fight in a street fight and whoever wins gets a badge! Yay for natural selection!

As a solo local girl, my suggestion to dragoncon would be Tuesday or Wednesday pickup. That way the line is not the same time as any events because this year, the couple behind me missed their paid event because of the line.

I think DragonCon has to prepare for even more people showing up on Wednesday going forward. The big factors out of their controller were the 100+ degree heat index & the printer failure - but they have to be able to handle it. Right now DragonCon seems to be weighing Counterfeiting Risk vs Long Lines - however with people passing out in line this year they need to start thinking in terms of Counterfeiting Risk vs Lawsuit/PR Nightmare. Eventually something worse than someone feinting is going to happen. I'd really hope the con fixes the problem before that happens rather than weighting till after it happens.
