Tomorrow is a beautiful opportunity to fast for the sake of Allah and revive a beloved Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. Voluntary fasting is an act of worship that brings a servant closer to Allah and trains the soul in patience, sincerity, gratitude, and self-control. The Prophet ﷺ regularly fasted on Mondays and explained the virtue of this day. He ﷺ said: “That is the day on which I was born and the day on which I was sent as a Messenger.” Sahih Muslim He ﷺ also said that deeds are presented to Allah on Mondays and Thursdays, and he loved that his deeds be presented while he was fasting. Sunan an-Nasa’i Allah reminds us of the great reward of fasting in the Qur’an: “Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women… the fasting men and fasting women… Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward.” Qur’an 33:35 And Allah says regarding fasting: “Fasting is prescribed for you… so that you may attain taqwa.” Qur’an 2:183 So let us welcome Monday with the intention of fasting for Allah alone. 🤍 Whether you are able to fast every Monday or only occasionally, every sincere act of worship matters. May Allah accept our fasting, forgive our sins, strengthen our iman, grant us sincerity, purify our hearts, increase us in taqwa, and make us among those who follow the Sunnah of His beloved Messenger ﷺ.
