@herbswithjen: God did not leave us without help for the gut. He put it in the ground before we knew we needed it. Your gut wall is one cell thick. Irritate it and the seams loosen, and things get through that never should. Your immune system reacts. That is where fatigue, bloating and achy joints can come in. ASTRAGALUS — feeds the bacteria that feed the wall Astragalus membranaceus. Its starches feed the good bacteria, and those bacteria make the fuel your gut cells run on. Two to three slices per quart of broth, simmered 30+ minutes, then fished out. Builds over months, not a rescue. SLIPPERY ELM — the soothing coat Ulmus rubra. Thick mucilage that coats, calms and holds water in the bowel, so it helps loose or backed up. 1 tsp powder in 8 oz water, up to 3x daily. Cold water pulls mucilage which is your medicine. LICORICE ROOT— the mucus one Glycyrrhiza glabra . Traditionally it tells the body to make more protective mucus. Honest: trials are split. One small ulcer trial healed 44 percent against 6 on placebo. A larger one found none. Use 20 minutes before eating. GINGER — the bloating one Zingiber officinale. Empties the stomach faster, so food is not sitting and fermenting. In 11 people, 1.2 g of powdered root cut half-emptying from 16 minutes to 12. Fresh tea or simmered slices, with meals. Now hear me: no herb out-works your fork. Real food. Whole food. Herbs are the help, not the substitute especially for chronic conditions. CONTRAINDICATIONS: Skip plain licorice with high blood pressure, kidney or heart trouble; DGL (deglycyrrhizinated licorice) has it removed. SLippery Elm, keep mucilage 2 hours from medications. Astragalus is immune stimulating; autoimmune, ask first. Pregnant, nursing or medicated, ask first. We tend it. God heals it. 🌿 Educational, not medical advice. “He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man.” Psalm 104:14 . . . . #fyp #christianherbalist #herbalremedies #guthealthtips #herbsforguthealth

Please be careful if you are in medication before taking any herbs. They can affect things like blood pressure or absorption.

your gut wall is many cells -- a layer upon layer of cells all held together in a dance of opening and closing junctions (spaces between cells). it is **not** "one giant celi"

Thank you. I will research when I'm back home in a few weeks but do you think astragulus could help someone diagnosed with Leaky Gut Syndrome? Trying to choose words carefully because I know how a certain government agency can be about medical claims.
