They were slaves that became separatists in order to be free. They’re willing to coexist in peace but they fight because they know Super Earth is a threat. The fact that they fight not because of evil motives but simply because they want to exist makes them, ironically, so human in my opinion. I love Helldivers lore it’s so good.

Helldivers 2 did what most sci-fi fiction stories couldn’t, they have almost perfected all it’s enemies of mankind. Whether it be the hate of the automatons or the cruelty of the squids, even to the primitive and wild attack patterns of the bugs while still being able to point out the hypocrisy of humanity.

hear me out, they kind of give me the same vibe as the Machines from ULTRAKILL. Rugged, beaten up and 99% of them only exist to kill. The Automatons are the main reason I've come to love Swordsmachine in particular. Their vibe is just so cool
