i grew up the only "mixed race" grandchild and was absolutely treated differently than the rest. when I had my son and saw that he would also be treated differently, I cut ties completely and haven't looked back since.

I never understood why she called them “the twins” because they weren’t actually twins they were technically triplets. The mother was pregnant with triplets and they lost one of the babies at the hospital and Randall was left at a fire station and coincidentally ended up at the hospital they were at and they ultimately decided to adopt him

This very scene I remember thinking wow I am so glad my mom is not like that only to realize she absolutely was. This opened my eyes up to behaviors I’d always brushed off for years as no big deal. I’ve since gone no contact and it’s been the best decision ever. Who knew tv could be so eye opening?
