This was me until i applied anti colonial praxis to what i was experiencing and changed my view to ‘why am i aspiring to be successful in these systems? What would make me feel like i have truly aspired to something not manufactured by violent systems?

thank you for putting this experience into words. I'm not defeated because I'm lazy, I've just been beaten down time and time again doing things that others told me would work

Perception gaps are so hard to overcome. It can also be a cycle. Recognizing that the circumstances wont change, giving up, but then rebounding and starting the cycle again. It gets harder and harder to manufacture that drive, will, hope to try again.

Your videos always make me cry. I got called fatalist a lot as a young person because of what you describe, I sometimes still do & it's 99% from ppl with comfortable material conditions from birth.

Interesting. I always thought of fatalism as learned helplessness.

Thank you for talking about liberation psychology. I’m starting to delve into the work of Adler who seems to get this stuff.

one thing to be wary of of noticing when people (intentionally or subconsciously) choose to act where they'll be guaranteed to fail as a way to avoid change. for example, weaponized incompetence or malicious compliance.

This is how I feel, and I’m a white woman from a deeply dysfunctional working class family, with a history of suicide, substance abuse, narcissism, and gas lighting.
