@saltsugarandstories: If you know me, you know I have summer foods and winter foods, and I’m just gonna say it… the “ber” (brrrr) months have the better foods. 😂 Give me the soups, chili, gumbo, sweets and all those old-fashioned holiday treats! These Orange Balls are one of those recipes I start thinking about when we get close to the holidays. I learned to make them years ago from my former next-door neighbor’s husband. He made them every holiday season, I loved them, learned how to make them from him, and I’ve been making them ever since. They’re sweet, tart, chewy, a little crunchy from the pecans, covered in coconut and powdered sugar, and SO easy. No baking. No fancy equipment. Just mix, roll and refrigerate. And if you take these somewhere, go ahead and bring the recipe because somebody is going to ask you for it. 😂 OLD-FASHIONED ORANGE BALLS 🍊🥥 • 3 cups finely crushed Nilla Wafers • 4 cups powdered sugar • 1 cup frozen orange juice concentrate • 1½ cups chopped pecans, optional • 2 cups shredded coconut • 2 tablespoons melted butter For rolling: • About ½ cup additional coconut • About 1 cup additional powdered sugar Mix everything together in a large bowl and knead it until it comes together into a soft, slightly moist dough. If your mixture is too wet to hold its shape, add a little more powdered sugar. If it seems too dry, add a little more orange juice concentrate, about a tablespoon at a time. Roll into small balls, about golf-ball size. In the same bowl, mix the additional coconut and powdered sugar. Roll each orange ball really well in that mixture until it looks like a little snowball. ☃️🍊 Place them in the refrigerator until chilled and firm. Keep refrigerated in an airtight container for about a week, or freeze them for longer storage. And listen… they MAY keep for a week, but I’ve never had to test that theory because we eat the daggum things. 😂 Sweet, tart, chewy, crunchy and ridiculously easy. Orange balls, y’all! 🍊 #recipes #nobake #holidays #nobaket #orange

I saw somewhere a few weeks ago that the frozen juices were being phased out and this is what I thought of 😳 what will we do? When the time comes I guess we could try extract and zest.

I have not made these in years, brings back memories. I think they get better as they sit in the fridge.

If you like cranberries, & who doesn't, I bet some chopped up craisins would add an extra pop of flavor to this amazing recipe.
Oranges & cranberries are meant to be together! 😇😇😇
