unfortunately i don’t think macklemore will ever learn or change because he has no incentive to do so. if he were to acknowledge that the situation is more complicated than he originally thought or showed any empathy for israel/israelis, every ounce of hate that’s being thrown at ed sheeran would be redirected back at macklemore. i think people like macklemore are too addicted to the positive reinforcement they get for speaking out against israel to ever change their minds.

really good take. i’m having a hard time with this bc 1) this is what macklemore was wearing in concert. what kind of person is this? 2) he is obviously loving the attention he is getting for this and he won’t give it up even for a friend 3) i feel so bad for ed sheeran. he has said on countless interviews he doesn’t share his religion or politics. him standing and doing his concert alone with no band really made an impact. he stands alone and i respect that 4) we go to concerts to get away from politics not to be lectured. i really hope we can get it together but sadly i think things are going to get worse
