@anthonypillarella: Replying to @thina1r 100% agreed. Casual friendships and situational friendships are WILDLY underrated. #charisma #socialskills #makingfriends #meetingpeople #makingfriendsasadults

These relationships are called "weak ties" in sociology, and they're incredibly important!

what would you do when some of them want to be closer (i.e, meet for coffees or talk often and deep besides what kept us together such a tennis activity together) and the interest is not the same from my side?

As someone who had to move back home and transfer colleges to receive cancer treatment I’ve learned to value the simple friendships with people that I only see once a month due to my chronic fatigue.

It’s also more easier to just not think that much into your friendships and let them naturally fall into their “roles” I don’t have friends I do certain things with specifically I just happen to do certain things with certain friends yknow

And you can still get help from and offer help to people that you're not super close friends with! They're still mutually beneficial relationships

This reminds me of an infamous blog post from 2003 called “Five Geek Social Fallacies” which I think you’d enjoy.

I don’t have a lot of social media. Do you think not having a platform like instagram for example makes it harder to make and maintain friendships. I’ve noticed although I may have a good relationship with someone, if either of our routines change for whatever reason it can be kind of hard to keep up with friends

Beautifully said! I got the information from a youtube video I watched. To divulge a little more she talked about how having friends at different levels is good. Wish I could find it but essentially she split different types of friendships into groups. The fun friends who you go do fun stuff with but wouldn't share your daily struggles with. This is the person you share a hobby or interest with and you engage in your shared interests and that's as far it goes. For example "I go see movies with this person". They're still great to be around! Just not your "I cry on your shoulder" person. The work friend, etc. It helps to understand different people belong in different groups and they or yourself don't have to be more or less than that.
