Panda remains have actually been found in ancient imperial burial sites. Panda bones were excavated from the burial pits associated with the tomb of Empress Bo, dating to the Western Han period. This strongly indicates that pandas were known to elite Chinese society at least around 2,000 years ago.

They aren’t bad at being animals. Wild pandas mate and live just fine but pandas in zoos are bad at mating and seem stupid because they are in enclosures and aren’t in their natural environment. Wild pandas work just fine, they mate well, bamboo is plentiful and everywhere so even if it’s low in nutrients it’s fine cause there’s so much and it doesn’t move, and pandas are naturally lazy animals because of the low nutritional value of bamboo meaning they conserve energy. The constantly falling part is just because of their anatomy and they have evolved to have extremely tough bodies that can handle falling and rolling. And of course china is going to do all they can to profit off of pandas, the more money the better. Pandas are the goat btw.
