philosophically this is not true. Intelligence is not a determining factor for sadness but it can be a catalyst for sadness as well as happiness. I once thought the smart man sees the world as it truly is, cruel, sad, and hopeless. I now realize that the smart man sees the world as it truly is, how he wants. I can sit in darkness and watch the beautiful stars, or I can sit in darkness and imagine the dangers lurking. Both are the real world. Intelligence tells us more about what we see, but it does not tell us what to see.

this is not true in all senses. They more you know yes the more the words cruelty shines thru. But you can always choose yo change your perspective about things. If you change your perspective that can be lead from sorrow to just fact or truth. The more knowledge you have, will just make you see the world for truly what it is
