This is the healthiest I’ve seen you look. You’re speaking clearly, appear to be very alert and you survived the car ride you were certain you wouldn’t. Seems like you’re right where you need to be. I’m sure if you truly needed the fluids, you’d get them.

The fluids are for hydration, yes? I don’t think they’re trying to purposefully dehydrate you. They probably see that you’re capable of drinking on your own (and receiving enough hydration from that). Well, regardless, you look much better in their care.

I’ll let you in medically why they are denying it in your new home. They see if you can eat orally not requiring TPN then you can keep things down enough not requiring IV fluids as fluids typically are digested easier than food. I’m in no way saying your case is wrong but your answer won’t come from an ER as they all will believe that you need to see a GI for the orders.

I would sue the hell out of this hospital as well because what the actual hell why would you not just give her fluids?? i went to the hospital and was only slightly dehydrated and they gave me fluids. I really hope you get things figured out I am so so sorry

Genuinely asking, what happens if you just drop IV fluid and start drinking water normally. What does that do to your gastroperesis? Like what are the side effects and possible outcome. (Fellow chronic disease girly here)

My best guess is that if you’re on a mental health unit, they won’t do IVs because of the tubing being a risk. This is so frustrating, I’m so sorry this is happening

what is the reason they are giving for denying fluids? there is clearly something else going on, no provider would deny you fluids if you were truly dehydrated according to bloodwork and urine output. people with hangovers get IV fluids in the ED. there must be some explanation because this makes no sense
