The same thing has happened with house and techno.

The world is actively doing this right now. They tryina rebrand RnB as a Korean genre. They already rebrand our vernacular as “gen z” or “tiktok” slang. Like, why is it specifically black Americans that get disrespected so widely? Why are we supposed to just take it and why do we not have free agency over ourselves as other people and cultures do? Why specifically US? Africans and others of the diaspora actively participate in the silencing and minimization of us and our culture too and I just don’t get it.

Elvis is still one of the best known artists of all time, and all of his hits were stolen from a black person. 💀

Before the Ramones, there was a band called Death. Guess what they looked like? Punk rock was also originally a black art form

I was getting ready to speak about Elvis and then u mentioned him. Even his style of singing came from a black man. If you ever hear Roy Hamilton that came before Elvis, you would realize what was going on.

another thing when Juice Wrld came out that first thing that hear is lucid dreams and they labelled him a rapper lol. he's just singing on the entire song. it may be hiphopified in the production but it's not a rap song lol. they do that for every black singer. tpain can rap but he barely ever does it and they called him a rapper too

Black music has influenced the film industry in a major way as well. Those spy or detective movies that’s always use funk or jazz music in the background when blaxploitation films did it in the early 70s is insane. Now whenever people watch crime dramas you expect some funk maybe a little jazz in there

I would even go so far as to say that the rhythms that became what we know of as rock and roll are only here because they were carried forward by Black women for hundreds of years. We owe them so much ❤️
