damn. as a devote transformers fan, this is not good. the art is amazing and peter, all of it goes without saying. but optimus walking away from the matrix and bee, just into a beam of light was not very “optimus prime” to me

I think people forget that the Quintessons later bring Optimus back to life fight the rage plague. In the end Optimus could have kept the matrix, and no one would have objected. Instead he gives it back to Hotrod so he could become Rodimus again. Optimus walked away from the matrix and leadership, thus breaking the chain which could lead to a different future under a new leader.
