My partners used to always blame me for wanting more out of life. They used to say that I’m not grateful and that Allah will punish me for it. I had to end relationships because of this constant pressure of not being grateful. Because of therapy I was able to actually discover that it’s okay to be ambitious and if I’m ambitious it’s maybe because Allah put that seed in my heart I just need to have some balance. It was a hell of a road.. and it’s lonely because most of Muslim men are intimidated or want to have a normal 9-5pm and get a mortgage and just work until retirement…

I think it’s bcz we are taught to always seek the hereafter and because a lot of the times ambition usually leads to obsession with what the world can offer and it’s honestly really difficult to strike a healthy balance and not feel guilt for being ambitious (from my experience)

I believe that Muslim women can be both. However, society often tells women otherwise. I also believe that, as Muslims, we should be ambitious in our education, careers, and wealth. These things can give us a stronger position in society, and with that influence and success, we can help other Muslims and people in our communities.

I think God never intended women to be a version of a “ good women” in the sense of making ourselves “small” or unseen because women should not be “outspoken, loud” or whatever that indoctrination was from the beginning of every religion. We, just as men are part of this society! And I think God intended not just humans but every creation of His to unfold themselves to their outmost potential, so that we can experience everything His mercy encompasses through His limitless source.
