I'm honestly curious how people keep saying it captures RE perfectly, because outside of them saying umbrella, once mind you, and the Easter eggs. everything else was just generic monster movie troupes

The ending really fell flat to me. I get this was his take on resident evil but even outside of that it just felt very underwhelming. The idea of a npc’s story could be a really interesting movie but i just found myself not caring about any of the characters at the end

it literally captured the emotions I felt playing Resident Evil 2 for the first time. Every f bomb Austin Abrams dropped would’ve been said by me while playing 😂

Mild non-plot spoilers ahead ok warning over now. The moment in when Austin and PWH are sitting in the car waiting for something to happen was like when a cut scene ends and you gotta start playing again 😂

it was so impressively paced, i can’t think of another movie that captures the feeling of a game quite as well. even the beginning felt like it shuffled thru the administrative tasks of a game while putting you in the action right away.

I can’t speak as a fan. I haven’t played any of the games. But as a fan of film and video games in general I think it was incredibly successful in capturing the feel of playing a survival game. Cregger is king

i feel kinda bad bc i feel like im the only one who didnt like the movie 😭😭 like the first half is soo good but then it falls off after that (im a resident evil fan, but thts besides the point) and i have tht issue with all of the other cregger movies

I was so pleased with how funny it was- he really had a nice mixture of some of those claustrophobic, tank control hallways and laugh out loud moments

100% agree! The little nods to the games were fun - the herb in the car, the typewriter save room. Finally a good RE movie!

My brother and I shared the same thought of that this movie felt like one of those journal entries you’d read in a RE game, slowly getting more information about a monster and how it developed.

would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the ending. i had high hopes for this film less as an RE film and more as a Cregger film and for as "Controversial" as his last two films endings were, this is the one that fell flat for me. really did enjoy the movie like 80% of the way thru though!

I really liked how the virus was like a combo of the t-virus, las plagas, and the g-virus. Allowed for some very cool scenes and interesting monster designs!
