my local donut shop lady. been seeing her since I was little and I went back for the first time in a couple years. first thing she said was "youre so skinny! so beautiful!" and when I said she was beautiful too she just shook her head and said "im not skinny". shes the sweetest old Asian lady and I wanted to cry in front of everyone

growing up in a family where the women are obsessed with calories and their weight is a cycle that will end with me. I was 6 years old the first time I was told to hold my stomach in for a photo, and grew up thinking the worst thing a woman could be was fat. if I ever have kids I will NEVER allow that kind of talk around them.

i’ve worked with loads of hospice patients who won’t eat dessert or greasy food because they don’t want to get fat. like, they’ll genuinely be laying in their death bed, a week from dying, refusing to have a cookie. it genuinely will never get better unless you actively work on reframing how you view your body!
