You’re technically supposed to do what’s best for the client. That requires a conversation around goals and objectives. If it’s growth that outpaces inflation, then yeah, probably going to get into some large cap that’s associated with nasdaq and S&P. If it’s income for SSA supplementation, we can either build out a fixed income portfolio that is centered around money markets or we can check in on income annuities. The biggest challenge that no one addressed here? Getting a boomer out of CD hell because they still believe 2008 is right around the corner or they’re going to lose 40% of the portfolio in a matter of seconds.
