STRASBOURG, October 6, 2026 — Polish Member of the European Parliament Dominik Tarczyński delivered a strongly worded political attack in Strasbourg on Tuesday, declaring that, in his view, “communists have destroyed Europe and the rest of the world” and calling for a renewed fight against communist ideology. Speaking during the European Parliament session, Tarczyński accused European political leaders of contributing to what he described as Europe’s decline. He specifically directed criticism toward Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, who was in Strasbourg, blaming his political camp for the current state of Europe. Tarczyński, a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group and Poland’s Law and Justice (PiS) party, has repeatedly positioned himself as a vocal opponent of communism and left-wing political movements. His latest intervention continued that message, with the Polish MEP urging European countries to look to Poland as an alternative political model. “Be like Poland,” Tarczyński declared, presenting his country as an example of the direction he believes Europe should follow. His Strasbourg remarks came amid a wider political campaign in which Tarczyński has also been openly supporting Flávio Bolsonaro in Brazil’s presidential race. On social media, he recently celebrated Bolsonaro’s first-round result and argued that Brazil should follow an anti-communist path similar to the one he advocates for Europe. The comments are likely to fuel further debate over the increasingly confrontational political rhetoric surrounding Europe’s ideological divisions, particularly over immigration, national sovereignty and the role of the political left. Tarczyński's statement reflects his own political position and should not be interpreted as an established factual assessment that communists have “destroyed Europe.” #Poland #warsawa #USA #europe #UK
