@thespinoffnz: It's Te Wiki O Te Reo Māori! So in this episode of Kua Mōhio Koe, Robbie Nicol takes the opportunity to check in with Liam Rātana (Ngāti Wairupe/Ngāti Kurī), editor of The Spinoff's Ātea section, about the progress Aotearoa is making in its journey to revitalise te reo Māori. Filmed, edited and directed by Isaiah Tour. Translation, te reo Māori support and performance by Liam Rātana. Additional writing and performance by @robbienicol. Made with the support of @nzonair. #NowYouKnow
the way Robbie moves and talks in this video activates my fight or flight response

we had a propaganda machine make the last 2 generations dislike te reo. a few people alive today remember the first time we had te reo in the national anthem only because they disliked that decision

I did not learn a lot of Te Reo growing up and I think this legislation is really important. Te Reo is important to NZ internal sense of identity and if nothing else, learning a second language is really good for brain development.

Nice video, but the video doesn’t work, he asked when could you speak Māori and you said I can’t and are just reading the teleprompter. How do you understand what he is saying?
