I remember working at metro, and this guy comes in and sits down by the door and starts scratching himself. No line to wait at, just comes in and sits down. I welcomed him and asked what’s going on, he says “Eh my dealer wouldn’t gimme no crack” while twitching and scratching. I can’t even remember the conversation, I remember saying something like “oh, that… sucks”

You can be damn sure if someone like me would walk in who has no knowledge about any of this whatsoever, they would welcome me with open arms and take their time to explain, help, recommend, etc. That’s what being open means. Being welcome to newcomers, not: allowing someone to disrespect you and everyone in the community

If i was at the store and heard this exchange id feel safe there! theres nothing worse than someone that doesn’t call someone out for this behavior. A core memory of mine is when a bunch of guys called out this meanie for bullying me when i was extremely new to mtg. Made me feel safe to call that person out too and I still have that fun memory for myself

I get so tired of the people who want the person who is dealing with a rude person (the “customer”in this case) that we are supposed to work to give them “grace” or maybe “try to reach them” or some other BS. Plus, like what was mentioned, it’s the owner’s job to actually do what she did. The employee’s comment was wrong. What about the other customers in the shop that guy was likely insulting?!
