I don’t know if there’s any particular significance to the fact that Parowan Gap and Rock Canyon were both referred to as “God’s house” by native Utahns according to early Mormon records, but it does seem like an interesting coincidence. On the summer solstice, the sun sets exactly in the middle of the gap. Growing up we were always told the markings were related to agriculture and their interpretations of the seasons. There are also petrified dinosaur tracks just a few hundred yards away.
