@theausinstitute: Ed Husic, Federal Member for Chifley, asked a lot of insightful questions of the Reserve Bank in the House Economics Committee today. A graph he provided, created by our Chief Economist Greg Jericho, examined the widening rift between real wages and inflation. Check out the stream on their Youtube!

very good question..seems the middle class are left to clean up the inflation that is caused by gov spending and corporate greed..maybe people should post the ceos salaries and bonuses and collectively the middle class stop buying products where possible from over paid ceos..the gov thing will need be sorted out come election time..but let's not forget the rba board and how they treat the now working poor..sack the entire board and start again..we are fk en paying their wages

I mean you could spent less as a government and reduce tax rates, which will give money back to us in real wages

We are all screwed until our politicians start putting people first and not the rich billionaires and multinationals.

RBA in its current form has been infiltrated by big business favourable ideologues. They are happy with the disconnect between productivity dividends and wage rises and are happy with a baseline of unemployment where the unemployed are well below the poverty line.

yep inflation is a big issue however thanks to bracket creep a wage increase hits the government's 'ato" account not ours

When the corporations make gigantic profits and the politicians secure their healthy bonuses and salary increases, it's all good. When the everyday person starts suffering, then it's spending that is pushing inflation. Spending with what money?

It's getting to the point where workers are going to start walking out and protesting. If majority of people can't afford the basic things they need to survive you're going to watch major changes politically and collectively pressure.

just explain to me how increasing the mortgage rate that a 30/40% of the population pay is going to bring down inflation and these idiots just regurgitate the same shit everytime,I know people are doing it tough, but what are you doing to improve this SFA, you cannot justify a rate rise when it only impacts a portion of the population, and I'm still waiting for an explanation on how this brings down inflation especially when the price of fuel will be increasing and that will have a flow on effect, price of electricity is still too high as is cost of living but as he rightly says Coles and Woolworths are making billion dollar profits while the man in the street is struggling
