I thought I’d give you an idea of some essential tools you will need before you start renovating your home. 1. Floorboard lifter Honestly this has saved my knees and back so many times. I’ve had most of my floorboards up to insulate underneath, and the way you can place this on a joist, and leverage the boards up saved so much time. 2. Plasterboard rasp This has become my best tool mate in this project, with the faff it’s saved me. Plasterboards need to be tight to each other, and often times they’re an awkward fit, or your cut can be jagged. The rasp smoothed everything and shaves edges down in seconds. 3. Jab saw The utility knives of utility knives. Whether it’s bits of wood, plasterboard, insulation or whatever - the jab saw has been such a saviour. It’s still sharp after 8 months of usage too. It’s a must have! 4. Impact driver Make sure you go for a branded one like DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita etc. it’s worth investing in one of these as it’s became vital to the speed and my ability on this project. It just packs far more of a punch than a combi drill and it fits almost anywhere to fix anything. 5. Reciprocator saw I actually borrowed this off a friend who had renovated his business premesis and promised me I would need this going into my project. He couldn’t have been more right. So many times during this project I turned to this saw, whether it was to cut up stud beams, chip off awkward bits, or make mdf replacement floorboards. This thing is a beast and is vital for an easy demolition process! For more renovation tips, tricks and updates, follow me!
