@sacramentourbanmedia916: A 75-year-old West Virginia woman has been charged with neglect after authorities say she left her seriously ill husband stuck on a toilet for approximately 19 hours, contributing to medical complications that preceded his death. Margaret Rog was arrested after investigators alleged her 76-year-old husband became unable to get off the toilet on Aug. 20. Rather than seeking assistance, Rog allegedly left him there overnight without food, water or prescribed medication. Authorities said the man had dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and legal blindness. Despite reportedly hearing him groaning in pain, Rog allegedly went to bed without calling for help. The following morning, a speech therapist arriving for an in-home appointment discovered the man unresponsive and called an ambulance. He was hospitalized with multiple serious conditions, including heart and respiratory failure, pulmonary embolism, sepsis, hypernatremia and rhabdomyolysis. He died 10 days later on Aug. 31. Investigators reportedly determined that conditions and injuries associated with being left on the toilet were significant contributing factors in his death. Court documents allege Rog made statements indicating she knew her husband required assistance but did not provide it. Rog has been charged with abuse or neglect of an incapacitated adult. She pleaded not guilty and was released after posting a $75,000 bond.#fyp #viral
