Foraging season is back, so it felt so good to finally get back out and collect some fresh goodies for the buns! 🌿🐰 The outdoors has an abundance of wild plants for rabbits to enjoy. It’s a lovely way to get out in nature, and you can gather a variety of natural treats your buns will love, completely free! On this week’s foraging trip I collected Hawthorn, Willow, Birch and Plantain, all great options if you’re new to foraging, as they’re generally easy to identify. Once home, I gave the buns a little of the fresh forage (washed first), adding it on top of their hay in a forage box with a sprinkle of Excel Botanical Blends 🌼🌿 I’ll be drying the rest to save for another day. A few things to remember when foraging: 🌿 Always check local foraging laws, and if you’re not 100% sure on a plant or its safety, don’t pick. Always forage responsibly and leave plenty behind for wildlife 🌿🐝 🌿 Plant ID apps can be unreliable, so don’t rely on these alone when identifying plants. 🌿 Avoid foraging near busy roads, dog walking areas, or anywhere pesticides may have been used. 🌿 Some forage may not be suitable if your rabbits are on medication, so always check with your vet if you’re unsure.
