She became the first woman to teach at the Sorbonne and, in 1911, won her second Nobel Prize, this time in Chemistry, for isolating pure radium and polonium. She remains the only person ever to win Nobel Prizes in two different scientific fields. Marie Curie’s discoveries revolutionized science and medicine, leading to the development of X-rays and cancer treatments.
