@nostalgicsound_ng: The story began with 2Face and Blackface, friends from Benue who were already writing, singing and performing together before Lagos. 2Face recalled arriving in Lagos with a demo, staying with Blackface’s uncle, Captain Moses Ahmedu, in FESTAC, and moving around looking for opportunities to be heard. . They sang a cappella and chased studio opportunities. Along the way, they met Nigerian entertainment industry pioneer Edi Lawani, who introduced them around the industry and connected them to the 1998 Rothmans Groove tour. According to 2Face, the tour took them through 31 shows across Nigeria, with some of what they earned going back into their music. . Then came Faze. He remembered first seeing 2Face and Blackface perform on Cally Ikpe’s New Life Beat. Blackface later brought him closer, and the two voices became three. They lived and rehearsed together, developing what 2Face would later describe simply as “the blend.” . Still trying to break through, they recorded at Even Ezra and Dolphin studios in Surulere. Around this period, they also worked as backing vocalists for Weird MC, alongside Bunmi Sanya. Speaking to Afropop Worldwide in 2017, 2Face said: “It was after the tour, we met Nelson Brown through Weird MC.” Brown was starting his label operation and asked to sign them. After the Weird MC project, they sat down to discuss working together. . Then, in 2000, came Body & Soul, with songs including “You and I,” “Knock Me Off” and “Cousin’s Cousin.” Sold Out followed in 2003. . The group separated in 2004, with 2Face, Blackface and Faze moving into their respective solo careers and releasing individual projects. In 2007, the three reunited for Plan B, bringing Plantashun Boiz together on record once again. . In 2025, while reflecting on 25 years in music, 2Baba remembered Nelson Brown’s role in the early Plantashun Boiz story: . “You were the first to see light in the dream of three young men when no one else believed.” . From that early belief grew a sound that became part of Nigeria’s changing pop landscape at the turn of the millennium, and a Plantashun Boiz legacy that still lives on. . . . #PlantashunBoiz #2000sMusic #NostalgicSoundNg #tiktoknigeria🇳🇬 #Fyp
