There are times when your destiny requires your humility before it can receive the help of men. You can be gifted, graceful, intelligent, hardworking and full of energy, but none of these makes you independent of people. There are doors your talent can knock on, but only relationships, favour, mentorship, recommendation or someone’s simple decision to believe in you can open. The fact that you can do much by yourself does not mean you were designed to do everything by yourself. Sometimes, we take pride in the fact that we struggled alone to get where we are. We celebrate the battles we fought without assistance and forget to ask ourselves a difficult question; what if the help we refused, rejected or never received is the very thing standing between where we are and where we could be? There is nothing wrong with being self-made, but there is wisdom in understanding that nobody is entirely self-made. Someone taught you. Someone recommended you. Someone introduced you. Someone gave you an opportunity. Someone saw what you could not yet see in yourself. Someone opened a door you did not have the key to. So, don’t let your strength become your limitation. Don’t become so proud of surviving without help that you become incapable of receiving it when it comes. Sometimes, humility is not weakness. It is the posture your next level requires. Your destiny may not need another display of how much you can do alone. It may need you to recognize the people God has positioned around you, honour the help they carry, and have enough humility to receive it. Because perhaps you are not where you should be, not because you lack capacity, but because you have been trying to become everything without allowing anyone to contribute to your becoming.
