@guppyk0: To note: this is a VERY MUCH simplified version of queerness in Korea, & Korea under colonial and postcolonial rule did contribute to repression of any queer expression, however it was NOT the beginning or start of the cultural shift. #korea
Do you know the name of the movie? I’d love to watch it! Great watch btw

I remember reading that the traditional animist shamans were considered a third gender as well

When I learned Korea was more matriarchal before Confucianism came to Korea and if o could throw hands I would. There are parts of it I can appreciate but it seems it changed a lot of Korean culture in major and very long lasting ways (as being very conservative often is harder to get out of) so many cultures were much more accepting and peaceful when they were matriarchal (gee I wonder why..)

History With Eunbi (은비)📚 :
i’m suddenly reminded that in the goryeo-era, women were given the same inheritance as their brothers, they could own land, and they were recorded in age-order with all their siblings in the jokbo. and that all changed with the joseon neo-confucianism. that shift led to daughters barely being treated as part of their birth family. they’d be written off to the side in the jokbo, or sometimes omitted altogether from their own birth family’s records.

Very interesting. I saw an interview with Candace Owens (i dont agree with anything she says btw) and the interviewer asked what she would do if her son was gay and she went on this rant about gay people not being a thing outside of america and western europe and its so FALSE lmao christians really believe that too

i always get so sad when i remember there’s a rise in christianity in korea 😞 makes me feel even more unsafe as someone apart of the lgbtq community to go there esp since im trans, it’s so easy to not show being gay in that way but gender is way harder

it should be noted, however, that 99% of all all documented historical accounts of queerness were homosexual acts between men. you need to account for misogyny and the fact that having sex w men as seen as ok as a man if you had done your duty to procreate
