If Superman wasn’t holding back and he actually tried to kill the avengers, he would slaughter everybody immediately and then he gets to Hulk and he can’t really do anything cause he can’t die, but neither can Superman so yeah the reason why the ultrasonic attacked worked on him cause Superman wasn’t trying to kill Batman. He was just trying to like beat him up and put him in his place.
