@kristina.groves88: One year ago today, we brought Willie home from the NICU. 🤍 After 45 days, we finally walked through those hospital doors with our baby in our arms. I remember thinking, we made it. We were finally going home. Finally going to start our life as a family of seven. I had no idea what the next year would hold. I didn’t know there would be more doctors, more appointments, more questions than answers. I didn’t know words like cerebral palsy, GMFCS Level V, therapy, specialists and brain injury would become part of our everyday vocabulary. I didn’t know how hard he would have to work for things most of us never even think about. But I also didn’t know just how incredible this little boy was. I didn’t know I would celebrate a look, a smile, an open hand, a reach, a laugh, a tiny movement like someone had just handed me the entire world. And I didn’t know how much Willie would change me. One year ago, I carried my baby out of the NICU thinking we were closing a chapter. Turns out, we were just beginning his story. And Willie… what a story you are writing. 🤍 365 days home. 365 days of loving you, fighting for you, learning you, advocating for you and believing in you.
