But here’s the workplace lesson: Being dependable should not mean becoming the default dumping ground. If you consistently accept every additional task without discussing priorities, deadlines and workload, your manager may assume you have capacity. Learn to communicate professionally: 👉 “I can take this on. Which of my current priorities should I move?” 👉 “I can deliver this by Friday. Does that timeline work?” 👉 “I’m currently handling X and Y. Let’s agree on the priority.” You don't have to be difficult. You just need boundaries. Because sometimes the fastest way to get more work isn't being the least productive employee… It's being the employee who always says, “I’ll handle it.” 😂 Be reliable.
