Vietnam only gained official access to China’s fresh durian market in 2022. But its diverse growing regions allow durians to be harvested nearly all year round, while its proximity to China means shorter journeys for the highly perishable fruit. Quality consistency and food safety remain challenges across Vietnam’s durian sector, but exporters are working to raise standards.
