A Diplomatic Appeal for Protection Lumbuye has become a prominent voice for many Ugandans, including young people, vulnerable communities, prisoners, and others who feel that their concerns are not adequately heard. His supporters regard his advocacy as an important expression of the aspirations and grievances of many people. At this important moment, we respectfully appeal to the Government of Türkiye and the relevant authorities to give careful consideration to his safety, dignity, and fundamental human rights. We trust that Türkiye, as a country committed to the principles of justice and the rule of law, will ensure that any decision concerning his future is guided by due process and a thorough assessment of the circumstances and any potential risks he may face. We respectfully urge the Turkish authorities to consider measures that would safeguard his life and well-being and to ensure that he is not transferred to any situation where there may be a credible risk of persecution or serious harm. This appeal is made with respect for Türkiye's sovereignty and legal institutions, while also emphasizing the universal importance of protecting human life, dignity, freedom of expression, and the right to seek safety. We sincerely hope that the authorities will approach his case with compassion, fairness, and careful consideration, and that a solution can be found that protects his safety while respecting all applicable legal and human-rights principles. May Lumbuye remain safe, and may the concerns of all Ugandans seeking justice, dignity, and a peaceful future continue to be heard through lawful and peaceful means.
