Here’s the step-by-step process for painting Nami’s face: Eyes & Liner: Standard black for the eyebrows, upper/lower lashes, and a full outline of the eye, then base the eyeball in light white-gray. Iris Base & Gradient: Outline the iris in black, then fill with dark black-red. Mix in ~50% Flaming Orange for 3/4 coverage, followed by more Flaming Orange (~75% mix) covering the bottom half. Warm Glow: Blend white into the orange mix for a bright 25% lower crescent highlight, then punch up the white for a tiny 10% reflective pop right at the bottom edge. Pupils & Catchlights: Define and fill the pupil in solid black. Apply gloss varnish over the eyes, then dot the stark white light-source catchlights. Lips: Apply a layer of matte varnish so the soft pastels have something to grip, then gently shade the lips and seal with another coat of matte varnish.
