How a STARTER DECK Changed Yu-Gi-Oh FOREVER!! | Today in TCG History #tcg #yugioh #yugiohtcg #History #masterduel Every five or so years in Yu-Gi-Oh, the game would introduce a new monster type. This was the case from the very beginning with fusions, then synchros, then XYZ, then Pendulum. It was almost a rite of passage; a new type coincides with a new anime and a whole new cast. Maybe less a rite of passage, more like a changing of the guard in the best case and a cynical power creep rise in the worst. And most of these times the new cards are introduced in starter decks. This was probably one of the best starter decks released - but for a change the cards included weren’t even that important. The best cards out of this were definitely the new LINK monsters. They were so game changing they even changed the LITERAL GAME BOARD. Sure the last ones did it, but these actually warped how you played every other extra deck mechanic!  Unbeknownst to everyone - maybe even to Konami themselves, it wouldn’t take long for them to revolutionize the game forever and put it into its most dire straits yet.
