Why A2 matters: - Most US milk contains 2 beta-casein proteins: A1 and A2 - Digesting A1 releases BCM-7, a peptide linked to digestive discomfort - A 45-person crossover trial found more digestive discomfort and higher inflammation markers after A1/A2 milk vs A2-only, even in lactose-tolerant subjects (PMID 27039383) - A Purdue trial in 25 lactose maldigesters found less abdominal pain after A2-only milk (PMID 33348621) - Trials are small and A2 milk still contains lactose. Not a fix for true lactose intolerance One caveat on the brand: Alexandre was the first dairy in the U.S. to earn Regenerative Organic Certified status in January 2021, and surrendered it in November 2025 after certifier audit findings.
